Hi all. Mama JaneA here with an update on a really cool new piece of cat furniture.
Disclosure: I received a free Perch Pet Nest prototype in exchange for this product review, but I never review products I don’t think would interest my audience. Perch Pet Products is in no way responsible for the content of this review.
The Perch Pet Nest is a great-looking piece of cat furniture that would fit in any modern home. The tubing that supports the bed is of very high quality, and the material that supports the cushion is nylon of the type you might find in a well-made soft-sided pet carrier. In addition, underneath the cushion is an air flow mesh bottom that will keep kitties cool in hot weather.
Even with all these great features, I didn’t know if my cats would like it. They tend to shun cat beds for reasons I’ll never understand. But here’s what happened when I unpacked the bed and put it on the floor near their favorite sun puddle spot.
Ever since that day, Thomas and Bella have taken turns sleeping in the Perch Pet Nest.
The shape of the bed is interesting in that it’s almost like a soft-sided triangle. The cool thing about this is that the pillow ends up …
The size of the bed is about 25 inches across the widest point and 20 inches from front to back. As you can see from the photo above, there’s plenty of room for Thomas. For reference, Thomas weighs about nine pounds and is about 18 inches long when he’s not all curled up in a sleeping ball. I suspect that Bella, another 9-pound cat, could comfortably join him in the bed, but if your cat is of a larger breed, it’s going to be strictly a one-cat model.
The fabric insert comes in a variety of colors and patterns. It’s easily removable and can be washed in a standard washing machine with the rest of your laundry.
The Perch Pet Nest is not available on the market yet. However, Perch Pet Products will be launching a Kickstarter campaign later this month. Keep an eye on Perch Pet Products’ Facebook page and website for updates about the Kickstarter campaign and how you can contribute to making this delightful pet bed a reality for cats everywhere.
That’s a cool looking bed! I bet if we had it here, Binga would commandeer it.
Darn, they need 75k in order for it to be funded! If they were closer I’d definitely buy one for $55 :(
I am a cat bed designer and often hear people say that their cat never likes the beds that they buy for them. Well, I’ve learned that all cat beds don’t seem to have features that cats will like! The Perch Pet Nest is elevated, and that is one feature that many cats are going to be intrigued by.
